Why We Need You:
An In House Firm has a rare, dynamic, and challenging opportunity for an Associate General Counsel to join our community. In this role, you will be responsible to provide support to the Chief Legal Officer and assistance to senior company leaders on a comprehensive range of legal issues relating to personal lines insurance. This position supports the execution and delivery of strategic imperatives with a focus on enterprise risk management.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Provide legal assistance during regulatory examinations, external audits, on-going regulatory compliance activities, responses to regulators, corporate governance matters, board meetings, and committees as required.
  • Provide internal training on applicable legal issues and legislation, enterprise risks, emerging issues, etc.
  • Participate in the management of legal disputes, litigation, or claims against the company, including collaboration with external law firms.
  • Keep informed on legislative and regulatory developments that affect the insurance industry and business operations of the company; attend industry events, workshops, and seminars to continuously enhance expertise.
  • Draft and manage filings to include holding company filings, state filings, reports, forms, notices, and requests, as appropriate.
  • Assist the Chief Legal Officer in providing legal counsel and strategic guidance to the organization on a wide range of business, legal and risk management issues and initiatives.
  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Analyze complex legal and factual issues, conduct extensive, well-reasoned legal research, independently develop and present options to business units to enable business initiatives while maintaining compliance with state and federal laws, industry regulations, and internal policies.

What You'll Bring:
  • JD degree from an accredited law school is required
  • 15+ years' experience in corporate and insurance law with increasing levels of scope, scale and complexity is required
  • Washington State Bar Association membership, or eligible for admission is required
