The Media Counsel will provide legal support for NIQ's media and commercial teams, focusing on drafting and negotiating contracts for media, data licensing, and market research solutions. This role ensures timely, pragmatic legal guidance to accelerate deals while protecting company interests.
- Draft and negotiate agreements for clients who license NIQ's data to strengthen their brands and improve marketing and advertising effectiveness, ensuring compliance with usage rights and privacy requirements.
- Lead negotiations on data licensing and usage, balancing client needs with NIQ standards.
- Identify privacy, security, and compliance issues during contract and product intake; coordinate with stakeholders to resolve.
- Partner with commercial, product, operations, privacy and finance teams to develop negotiation strategies and escalate risk decisions.
- Maintain and improve contract templates, fallback clauses, and playbooks to standardize positions and reduce cycle times.
- Support dispute prevention and resolution by interpreting contractual obligations and crafting business‑forward solutions.
Qualifications:
- J.D. (or equivalent) and admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 5+ years of experience drafting and negotiating B2B commercial contracts in media, advertising, data/tech, or market research.
- Strong knowledge of IP, content usage, and data licensing principles required.
- Demonstrated understanding of data flows, clean rooms, AI usage, and privacy implications in commercial agreements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to present risk trade‑offs clearly.
Additional Information:
This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation of the following range: $151,000 - $180,000. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and location. This role might also be eligible for a sales-based incentive or performance-based bonus.
