We're seeking an Associate General Counsel to join our Legal team and provide comprehensive legal support to the Enclos Family of Companies. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, and external counsel to manage risk, ensure compliance, and guide key business decisions that keep our projects and partnerships strong.

Position Overview:
The Associate General Counsel will provide comprehensive legal support to the Enclos Family of Companies and be responsible for review, maintenance, negotiation, and administration of contracts and contract related documents. This position will play a key role in advising internal teams regarding a wide variety of legal, risk management, and compliance related matters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review Owner Agreements, CM/GC-Subcontractor Agreements and subcontractor/supplier agreements at various stages of a project and identify potential issues.
  • Negotiate contract terms with CM/GCs and subcontractors/suppliers to ensure alignment with company policies and risk tolerance
  • Review non-standard contract modifications from subcontractors/suppliers
  • Assist with various claims (General Liability, Construction Defect, subcontractor defaults, etc.) as necessary
  • Effectively collaborate with external legal counsel
  • Educate and advise in business decisions and communications with external clients and customers
  • Evaluate and assist in development and implementation of formal company guidance and policies
  • Review, analyze, and negotiate various legal business documents
  • Effectively utilize internal and external resources and continuously improve administrative processes that assist the Legal Department in providing services to the company
  • Train and educate internal projects teams on
  • Assist with other corporate legal matters as necessary

Requirements:
  • Juris Doctorate degree
  • Licensed to practice law in Minnesota (or other state appropriate for Enclos activities)
  • Five plus years of corporate legal or law firm experience with an emphasis on construction contract review/negotiation or construction litigation
  • Experience with standard construction industry contracts (AIA, Consensus Docs, etc.), subcontracts, and understanding of construction-related activities preferred
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn the business while working on a broad range of contract and corporate legal matters is preferred
  • Experience working on construction defect and other insurance related matters is preferred
  • Excellent critical thinking and organizational skills
  • High degree of responsiveness
  • Advanced written and oral communication, contract drafting, and negotiation skills
  • Strong business judgment and problem-solving capabilities
  • Results oriented, analytical ability and strong attention to detail
  • Willingness and ability to manage shifting priorities, multiple responsibilities, and take on new responsibilities as necessary to support the business
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Comfortable engaging with construction professionals to gain insight and knowledge of the construction industry
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to company leadership.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

Office and Travel
  • The ideal candidate will office at Enclos Headquarters in Bloomington, MN
  • Minimal travel is required.

Compensation:
At the Enclos Family of Companies, compensation is determined based on several factors including but not limited to work experience, education, geographic location, certifications, etc. Your recruiter can share more about the specific compensation package for your preferred role during the hiring process. The successful candidate for the Associate General Counsel role in Minneapolis, MN can expect to earn $140,000 to $175,000 per year. This position is also eligible to participate in the company's incentive bonus plan.
