Job Description:ApolloMD is seeking an experienced healthcare attorney to join our legal team as Associate General Counsel. The Associate General Counsel serves as a trusted legal and compliance advisor to our complex, multi-state healthcare organization, identifying and managing legal and regulatory risk while providing practical guidance that supports our physicians, clinicians, operational leaders, hospital partners, and the patients we serve. Our legal and compliance functions are deeply integrated into the business, and this role works directly with senior leadership and operational teams to balance regulatory requirements, business realities, and the needs of our clinical partners. Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as a trusted legal and compliance advisor to senior leadership, operational teams, and clinical partners across a complex, multi-state healthcare organization.
- Draft, review, and negotiate physician employment, independent contractor, and compensation agreements.
- Draft, review, and negotiate hospital and health system agreements, managed care contracts, and vendor agreements, including software as a service (SaaS) agreements.
- Advise on HIPAA, healthcare privacy, and other healthcare regulatory matters.
- Support reimbursement matters, including the independent dispute resolution (IDR) process.
- Provide guidance on employment law matters.
- Support and strengthen general corporate compliance initiatives.
- Identify, assess, and manage legal and regulatory risk across the organization.
- Translate complex legal and compliance requirements into clear, practical advice that balances regulatory requirements with business realities.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with physicians, clinicians, operational leaders, and hospital partners.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Skills:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in good standing and in the relevant jurisdiction.
- 6 to 12 years of experience as a healthcare attorney with strong contracting, compliance, and operational experience.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in managed care, payor relations, contract negotiation, or a similar role within the healthcare industry preferred.
- Experience with health care billing is preferred.
- Experience with the Federal and state-specific IDR processes in various states, including GA, FL, NJ, IL, CA, etc.
- Significant healthcare industry experience, including working knowledge of healthcare regulatory, privacy, reimbursement, and compliance matters
- Experience with hospital-based physician services, such as Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Anesthesia, or other facility-based specialties, strongly preferred
- Sound judgment and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and practically
- Comfortable working directly with senior leadership and operational teams
- Collaborative, relationship-focused approach with a passion for solving difficult problems
- Great interpersonal and client service skills.
