We are seeking an experienced attorney to support our multidisciplinary engineering and architecture firm. The individual in this position will work closely with our General Counsel in supporting the legal needs of a growing multi-disciplinary and multi-jurisdictional design professional firm. This role offers broad exposure to corporate, governance, compliance and operational legal matters.

This position is a newly created role within a small, collaborative legal team that includes the General Counsel and 2 paralegals. As the firm continues to grow, this role will play an important part in expanding the legal team's capacity and supporting firm-wide initiatives across multiple jurisdictions.

This is a hybrid position, with a strong preference for the role to be based in Rochester, NY, at our headquarters. Candidates located in Buffalo, NY, Albany, NY, Charlotte, NC or Richmond, VA will also be considered.

Responsibilities:
  • Corporate governance, entity management and board-related matters
  • Statutory and regulatory compliance
  • Project contracts and office lease review
  • Employment law and HR support
  • Litigation oversight and project dispute resolution support
  • Collections support
  • Intellectual property and data management
  • Assist the General Counsel with special projects and firm-wide legal initiatives

Salary Range: $130,000-$160,000 per year

The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.

Requirements:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the General Counsel
  • Practical, business-oriented approach to legal advice
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with multi-state or multi-entity organizations
  • Experience with an engineering, architecture or construction-related firm is preferred
  • 7+ years of relevant corporate legal experience (law firm or in-house)
