What You'll Do:An American Communications Company seeks an attorney for its government and regulatory affairs group, to be based in Washington, D.C. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and executing the company's advocacy and regulatory strategy in the United States.
The Day-To-Day:
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Working with other stakeholders to formulate adaptable company positions and strategies, including in response to significant developments in the legal and regulatory environment.
- Advocating before government agencies such as the FCC and NTIA, as well as state PUCs.
- Advancing company positions in preparation for and on US delegations to spectrum-related international conferences and meetings (e.g., ITU WRCs and Study Groups, CITEL PCC II, and related preparatory meetings), and in trade association discussions.
- Crafting advocacy materials to effectively communicate An American Communications Company's positions to regulators and other partners.
- Working with internal partners to prepare and prosecute applications for new spectrum access and operating authority.
- Drafting comments and written materials for ongoing regulatory proceedings.
- Conducting legal research and preparing related analyses for consumption by internal and external partners.
- Supporting litigation and other contested proceedings as the need arises.
- Collaborating with external counsel and consultants to maintain alignment between external advocacy and company positions.
What You'll Need:
- 8+ years of experience in the field of government and regulatory affairs; preference for at least 5 years of experience specifically with FCC matters.
- Ability to think strategically and advocate clearly and concisely, both in writing and when speaking.
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy, together with the ability to run simultaneous projects under pressure.
- Exceptional communication abilities; ask clear questions and receive needed answers from partners, government, and counsel.
- Ability to take initiative and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced corporate environment.
- Ability to operate effectively as part of a team and to consistently meet deadlines.
- Juris Doctorate degree or equivalent.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
- This is an onsite role based out of our Washington DC office.
