Responsibilities
The Associate General Counsel for Employment Law provides legal advice and counsel on employment and labor issues for an in-house legal department at an academic medical center. Qualified candidate must be experienced and able to advise on employment litigation defense, arbitrations and grievances, representation of matters before state and federal regulatory agencies, and other general labor-related legal issues. The Associate General Counsel may review and advise on the development of employment policies and procedures, training programs, and related operational communications applicable to 3,500+ employees at a hospital. Duties also include the coordination and oversight of investigations of complaints of alleged violations of employment and labor laws (including, but not limited to, Title VII, FMLA, ADA, CEPA, NJ LAD and other federal and state laws).

Qualifications
Successful applicant must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and a J.D. from an ABA accredited law school. License in good standing to practice law in the State of New Jersey required. Five (5) years of legal experience in employment law required, with experience at an in-house legal department preferred. Experience in employment litigation defense, labor arbitrations and grievances, and the creation and implementation of workforce training programs also strongly preferred. Excellent human relations and communication skills, strong work ethic, and the ability to function in a team environment are required
