Job Description:Emerson is seeking an Associate General Counsel, Contracts, to lead the Contract Services function supporting all Business Units across the Americas World Area, with primary responsibility for English-language sales pursuits. Provides strategic contract guidance, legal support, and risk management expertise while operating independently on complex commercial matters. You will oversee a team of Contracts Counsels and Practitioners, ensuring effective contract negotiation, compliance, and business partnership.

Our compensation philosophy is simple: we pay a competitive base salary, within the local market in which we operate, and reward performance during our annual merit review process. The starting salary for this role is $148,000 - $211,400 annually, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities and experience each candidate brings to a role.

- Reviews, drafts and negotiates agreements and transaction documents in compliance with applicable policies and legal and ethical standards, without supervision, including in:
- Responding, within established guidelines, to customers' RFP/RFQs, vendor qualification documents and contractual requests;
- Drafting and negotiating with customers, appropriate contractual language to reflect the business interests and policies of the parties;
- Manages the Contract Services team and all requests for all Business Units in the Americas World Area.
- Takes the Contracts Lead role on:
- Complex international and multi-BU project contracts;
- Complex frame agreements (multi-BU & -WA);
- Act as Global Contracts Lead role on Global Strategic Accounts;
- Develops and communicates creative solutions and mitigation strategies to key negotiations;
- Applies expert subject matter knowledge to manage staff activities in solving complex business/technical issues within established policies;
- Mentors, trains, and supports the development of Contracts Services personnel;
- Recruits direct staff members and assists in the recruitment of other Contract Services personnel within the region;
- Provides advice during the approval process to assist business owners in making informed decisions and secure appropriate approvals;
- Interfaces with customers, members of the legal team and other Emerson stakeholders to bring deals to closure;
- May communicate directly and regularly with government agencies;
- Analyses business, financial, and legal risks, and acts as a key advisor to English speaking region's management on the development of overall policies and long-term goals of the organization;
- Research information on existing agreements and contractual programs, assisting with analysis and compiling data for reports;
- Provides contract-related guidance to Sales, Project Management and other stakeholders;
- Legal research;
- Provides independent legal advice and interpretation of legal matters, including the application of law;
- Provides direction to outside counsel on routine matters.

For This Role, You Will Need:
- 8+ years of work experience in a contracts-related role
- Law Degree and licensed to practice law in in US or Emerson applicable jurisdiction
- Strong Coaching & mentoring skills
- Intermediate MS Office skills
- Excellent oral and written English language skills.
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of Contract law & principles
- Commercial provisions such as warranty, liquidated damages/penalties, payment & freight terms, documentary credits and bank guarantees/sureties
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
- 3+ years of supervisory experience
- Completion of IACCM Advanced Contract and Commercial Management (CCM) Practitioner
