About the Global Privacy Office
An American Multinational Financial Services Corporation's growing Global Privacy Office within An American Multinational Financial Services Corporation's Legal Department is An American Multinational Financial Services Corporation's central touchpoint for global data strategy, privacy compliance, information governance, and legal aspects of information security. An American Multinational Financial Services Corporation's global payments network connects thousands of banks and millions of merchants in over 200 countries and territories, with trillions of dollars of transactions passing over our network each year. Our goal is to enable data-centric business opportunities while protecting An American Multinational Financial Services Corporation. To do this we engage with and provide privacy services to Visa business teams responsible for data analytics, direct-to-consumer digital services, business-to-business services, and support for loyalty programs and offers, among others. We operate An American Multinational Financial Services Corporation's global privacy program, advising Information Security, Human Resources, and other internal groups on privacy issues.

Position Summary:
You will have the opportunity to be involved in the company's global privacy program and strategy. Depending on the candidate's skills and interests and business needs, they will:
  • Be primarily responsible for reviewing, negotiating, and drafting global privacy and data protection terms (e.g. DPA) with vendors and suppliers.
  • Assist in developing privacy training materials, data protection playbooks, and providing training to employees on privacy-related obligations.
  • Work collaboratively with product and privacy counsel to support and provide legal advice on the data privacy and contract remediation required in accordance with new laws and regulations (e.g., contract projects related to Schrems II, CCPA, the EU AI Act, etc.).
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in our vendor management, sourcing, and privacy teams.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
  • 2 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD)
  • Juris Doctor degree or foreign equivalent with strong academic credentials
  • Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • Experience providing practical advice to clients on data use and privacy issues
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to interact well and build excellent working relationships with all levels of management
  • A high level of self-motivation, initiative, and ability to operate effectively as a team player across different business units, and
  • A passion to engage deeply with complex data use and privacy issues.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
  • Experience in the payments industry, and
  • One or more CIPP certification(s).
