Schaefer Law, PC, is a boutique firm in Woburn focusing in all areas of family law practice, probate, and estate planning. We are a small firm with terrific team members. Everyone on our team has an interest in the firm succeeding.The ideal candidate for this position has a minimum of 5 years of experience handling family law and/or probate matters, self-motivated, works well independently but also as part of a team, possess great writing skills, has excellent attention to detail, above average communication skills both verbal and written, and willing to take ownership of their job. This position requires a high degree of confidentiality, discretion, initiative, and dependability. Flexibility and excellent organizational skills are also key in our fast‐paced environment. Candidates with an existing book of business are preferred, but not required.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Participate in client intake interviews;
- Communication with opposing counsel, court, and other interested parties
- Prepare and draft pleadings and memoranda
- Prepare and draft appellate briefs;
- Draft discovery responses and requests;
- Conduct legal research;
- Gather and compile facts and relevant case information;
- Preparing for depositions and trials;
- Second chairing trials; and
- Attend Court hearings and conferences.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of family law and/or probate experience, but will consider candidates with less experience
- Prior trial experience is a plus but not required
- Licensed to practice in Massachusetts
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in court appearances
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Excellent grammar, punctuation, and proofreading skills
- Critical thinking and resolution skills
- High attention to detail
- Comfortable with handling a high volume of cases
