Position Overview:
Prime Group Holdings is seeking a mid-level Associate Counsel (3–5 years of experience) to support its national self storage platform and corporate operations. This role will provide day-to-day legal support across asset-level operations, commercial contracting, regulatory compliance, and general corporate matters.
The Associate Counsel will work closely with asset management, property operations, finance, and executive leadership to deliver practical, business-focused legal advice in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. This position is well suited for an attorney with strong law firm training who is looking to transition into a dynamic in-house role with meaningful responsibility and exposure to a growing real estate investment platform.
Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day legal support for self-storage assets across multiple states.
- Advise internal stakeholders on operational risk, regulatory compliance, and state-specific self-storage laws (including lien enforcement, consumer protection, and leasing practices).
- Draft, review, and negotiate vendor, service, and property management agreements.
- Support operational initiatives by reviewing and advising on process changes to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting storage and real estate operations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, service agreements, consulting agreements, NDAs, and other operational contracts.
- Partner with business teams during contract negotiations to balance legal risk with commercial objectives.
- Identify risk areas in agreements and propose practical, business-oriented solutions.
- Support corporate governance and entity management matters.
- Conduct legal research and providerisk analyses and advice to internal stakeholders.
- Assist with vendor due diligence and enterprise risk assessment initiatives.
- Coordinate with outside counsel on litigation, regulatory, and specialty matters as needed.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- 3–5 years of experience in corporate or real estate, law (law firm or in-house).
- Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Licensed and in good standing in New York or another U.S. jurisdiction.
- Experience supporting real estate transactions or asset-level operations preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
