Description:

The Associate Counsel is responsible for providing legal services in support of project execution. This role works closely with internal stakeholders to develop and effectuate appropriate and timely issue-specific legal strategy. The Associate Corporate Counsel plays a vital role in managing legal risks and influencing successful project outcomes that is essential to A Concrete Contractor success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Legal Services: Provide timely and astute legal guidance across the organization by investigating facts, issue spotting, interpreting contract terms, identifying legal risks, and recommending practical, defensible courses of action in alignment with stakeholder needs and company strategy.
  • Collections Oversight: Support the recovery of unpaid receivables by participating in weekly collections meetings, coordinating with F&A, operations, and external counsel to track collections efforts, and drafting lien notices and other legal communications to advance resolution.
  • Legal Research: Conduct legal research on state-specific construction law topics, including lien statutes, prompt pay rules, and indemnity standards, and synthesize findings into accessible guidance for project teams and leadership.
  • Drives Legal Awareness and Accountability: Engage with cross-functional partners in real-time, communicate risks, review and negotiate contracts, strategize with operations, and provide support through the project workflow.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to a state bar in the U.S.
  • 2-5 years of legal experience
  • Exposure to legal issues relevant to construction projects, including contract review, claims management, and dispute resolution a plus
  • Experience collaborating with operations and financial teams on legal and business matters
