In this role, you'll work on a wide range of commercial matters, collaborate with cross-functional teams, influence key business decisions, and support innovative initiatives across our Hubbell Electrical Solutions segment. A day in the life:
- Serve as legal advisor to business clients on a variety of commercial issues. Practice superior legal judgment and communicate clearly to all stakeholders. Provide advice on a variety of commercial legal matters.
- Support the initiatives of the HES and Enterprise legal department.
- Collaborate with other members of the Legal Department to facilitate the deployment and adoption of Hubbell's enterprise contract lifecycle management systema and ensure compliance with Hubbell policies throughout the organization.
- Identify opportunities for and offer training to business clients on various legal, regulatory, and compliance topics.
- Law degree from an accredited US law school and membership in good standing in one state bar is required.
- At least 3-5 years of relevant commercial law experience with a law firm and/or in-house legal department.
- Substantive experience in commercial business agreements, including sales agreements; intellectual property related considerations including licensing, IP ownership and risk allocation; independently managing and directing cross-border projects. Minimum 2 years of direct experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and ability to effectively explain complex legal issues to non-lawyers and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Excellent business sense and legal judgment with the ability to identify and escalate matters that require urgent attention.
- Ability to interact and communicate with senior leadership and other stakeholders and remain adaptable in a changing business environment. Ability to work autonomously, issue spot and provide incisive, practical and business-focused advice and counsel.
- Highly collaborative and team oriented, and willing to take on challenging tasks or responsibilities.
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail with a mindset that processes can always be improved.
- High integrity and professionalism, strong sense of ownership, and eagerness to learn.
- Preferred experience working an in-house for a large company, or demonstrated experience working directly with in-house attorneys on commercial issues.
