Description:
Job Summary:Under the direction and supervision of the Vice President and General Counsel, provides legal services to Arizona Water Company, a privately owned water utility that provides public utility water service to over 105,000 customers throughout the State of Arizona.
Job Duties and Essential Functions
- Assist the Vice President and General Counsel with providing legal representation, guidance, and counsel to the company for a broad array of matters, including but not limited to contractual, real property, insurance, regulatory, and litigation matters.
- Write and review contracts with contractors, developers, and vendors, with a primary focus on assisting the company's engineering department. These documents will include bidding documents, construction contracts, change orders, and a wide variety of agreements with applicants for service and existing customers.
- Conduct legal research and assist the Vice President and General Counsel in giving legal opinions and guidance on Company activities.
- Assist the company in preparing and reviewing governmental filings, such as filing with the Arizona Corporation Commission, reports to other regulators, and licensing applications.
- Assist in preparing legal documents for Arizona Corporation Commission and court proceedings.
- Assist Arizona Water to purchase real property and manage and maintain Arizona Water's real property and real property rights
- Write and review communications with third parties.
- Assist the company with filing and managing insurance claims.

- Excellent writing abilities.
- Excellent legal research skills, including online legal databases such as Westlaw.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word; familiarity with other Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to perform complex work with accuracy and timeliness.
- Excellent speaking and interpersonal skills.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and have good attendance.
- Neat, presentable, and professional appearance.
- Ability to perform repetitive physical activities, including keyboarding, and ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, grasp, push, pull, bend, stoop, climb, crouch, squat, crawl and twist, and lift up to 30 lbs.
Education, Training and Experience:
The following are required:
- Juris doctor degree.
- Minimum three years' experience working as a lawyer.
- Admission to the Arizona State Bar required.
- Valid Arizona driver's license and acceptable driving record.
