Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented lawyer to fill the position of Associate Corporate Counsel to support Amazon Web Services, a dynamic and rapidly growing business. This Associate Corporate Counsel will support the Amazon Web Services Sales, Marketing and Global Services team. Amazon Web Services is at the forefront of the "cloud" computing and service industry, providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, and more.

This position will primarily support AWS's Professional Services sales teams, negotiating strategic technology agreements with enterprise customers and assisting with business development and other initiatives. The candidate will have primary drafting and negotiation responsibilities on deals, and provide ongoing legal counsel and contract interpretation for business team members. The candidate also will be expected to participate in other Amazon legal projects as directed, including leading simplification and scaling initiatives, managing legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Providing ongoing product and program counseling support for the Professional Services field sales teams.
  • Structuring, drafting and negotiating agreements, including Statements of Work, Professional Services Orders, and other bespoke deals.
  • Supporting and directly advising business partners on legal, commercial, operational and other risks.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally to identify and resolve commercial, operational, compliance, security, safety, legal and customer/vendor issues to sustain and enable new business models, including the global expansion of Professional Services worldwide.

Basic Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of legal experience
  • Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
  • Experience managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in private practice or in house experience at a technology company or equivalent
  • Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
  • Experience in web services/cloud computing, software licensing, telecommunications or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $195,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
