Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented lawyer to fill the position of Associate Corporate Counsel to support Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS is at the forefront of the cloud computing industry, providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute, storage, content delivery, database services, and more. AWS also offers a comprehensive suite of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) services, infrastructure, and tools to help users build, train, and deploy AI models.

This position will primarily support AWS's sales teams across Latin America, with a focus on Spanish-speaking countries, including by negotiating, drafting and advising on strategic enterprise agreements and technology licensing agreements, advising on policy, regulatory and compliance issues, and assisting with business development and other initiatives. Typical transactions will range from standard contracts to complex, high-dollar-value strategic agreements. The candidate will have primary drafting and negotiation responsibilities on deals and provide ongoing legal counsel and contract interpretation for business team members. The role also includes participating in other AWS legal projects, including managing legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.

Basic Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of legal experience
  • Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
  • Experience in transactional and technology licensing or equivalent
  • Speak, write, and read fluently in Spanish

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications, cloud computing services or equivalent
  • Experience working cross functionally across several teams
  • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities across teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills (in English and Spanish).
  • Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work.
  • Experience in public procurement, working with government or state-owned entities.
  • Must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
  • Strong analytical skills and a solutions-oriented approach to addressing issues.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn and grow in a team environment.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $195,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
