We are seeking an Associate Corporate Counsel to join the AWS Global Public Sector Legal team. In this role, you will provide legal advice and guidance on compliance matters related to Amazon's public sector business worldwide, including government contracting, procurement regulations, and public sector-specific laws and policies across various jurisdictions. This role is critical to ensuring Amazon maintains the highest compliance standards while enabling growth in the public sector worldwide.

As an Associate Corporate Counsel on the AWS Global Public Sector Legal team, you will provide day-to-day legal support on compliance matters affecting Amazon's public sector business worldwide. You will advise business teams on government contracting regulations, procurement requirements, and ethics compliance issues. Your responsibilities include reviewing and processing post-government employment requests, consulting on political law and gift compliance matters, and supporting organizational conflicts of interest reviews. You will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to develop compliance guidance, support training initiatives, and help implement compliance programs across public sector business units. You will also work with outside counsel on specialized compliance matters and help monitor legislative and regulatory developments that impact Amazon's public sector operations.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Advise internal clients on legal and regulatory ethics and compliance issues in the global public sector space
  • Support development, implementation, and oversight of compliance programs and training for public sector business units worldwide
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting public sector business across multiple jurisdictions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and mitigate legal risks and to ensure alignment of compliance efforts
  • Support public sector compliance messaging and accountability across Amazon
  • Assist with post-government employment review process, ensuring compliance with regional laws and regulations
  • Consult on political law and gift compliance
  • Support organizational conflicts of interest compliance
  • Manage relationships with outside counsel and seconded counsel on public sector compliance matters

A day in the life:
You'll spend time coordinating with legal and business teams on time-sensitive compliance questions and drafting practical guidance for internal stakeholders. You'll participate in meetings with legal and business partners across different regions to address emerging compliance issues and provide real-time legal support. Throughout the day, you'll balance multiple priorities—from reviewing gift disclosures to advising on organizational conflicts of interest to supporting compliance training development. You'll collaborate closely with colleagues across the legal team, sharing insights and coordinating on cross-functional matters. The fast-paced environment means you'll need to be adaptable, switching between detailed regulatory analysis and high-level strategic discussions while maintaining responsiveness to business needs across multiple time zones.

About the Team:
The Public Sector Legal Compliance team plays a critical role in enabling Amazon's public sector business to operate with integrity and in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations worldwide. Our team supports Amazon Web Services and other Amazon businesses serving government customers at the federal, state, local, and international levels. Basic Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of Public Sector Law experience
  • Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
  • Knowledge of government contracting laws, rules and regulations including, but not limited to, commercial items contracting requirements, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation (DFAR)
  • Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
  • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities across teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Experience identifying, mitigating, and managing business risks and tradeoffs

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local government contracting laws, rules, and regulations
  • Experience in cloud computing technologies
  • 3+ years of relevant legal experience with focus on government contracting and public sector compliance across multiple jurisdictions
  • Multilingual capabilities are highly desirable

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
