The only experience necessary is some prior time in a court room handling motions or dockets. This could be traffic court, bankruptcy, etc. We will provide training and course work on workers' compensation law. We are looking for an attorney that is 1 to 3 years into their legal career. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn the law and practice in an area that needs attorneys. - Be able to manage cases from inception through discovery and trial preparation
- Taking depositions of the claimant, witnesses, physicians, medical experts, and other parties
- Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, opinions, appeals, contracts, and other legal documents
- Gathering evidence and obtaining medical records for trial
- Remaining current with developments in the law
- Litigating cases before the workers compensation division
- Negotiating legal contract terms on behalf of clients and presenting arguments and counter arguments in court
- Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
- Must be to support existing and new clients
Requirements:
- Illinois or Indiana license preferred
- Extensive knowledge of the State and Federal rules and regulations
- Must be able to grapple with large caseloads and multitask multiple priorities and deadlines
