  • We are seeking a full-time Criminal Defense Associate Attorney who is passionate about defending constitutional rights and delivering high-impact advocacy for clients. This role is ideal for a motivated litigator who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is eager to grow their trial and courtroom experience under the mentorship of experienced defense attorneys.

What You'll Be Responsible For
As a Criminal Defense Associate Attorney, you will:
Client Representation & Case Management
  • Manage your own caseload of criminal defense matters, including misdemeanor and felony cases.
  • Represent clients at all stages of criminal proceedings, arraignments, hearings, trials, and sentencing.
  • Build client relationships based on trust, clear communication, and thoughtful counseling.

Legal Strategy & Advocacy
  • Conduct thorough legal research and draft pleadings, motions, trial briefs, and other court documents.
  • Prepare for and argue motions, negotiate plea agreements, and, where appropriate, try cases before judges and juries.
  • Develop case theories and strategic defenses in coordination with senior attorneys.

Court & Administrative Interactions
  • Appear in Arizona state courts regularly.
  • Communicate and negotiate effectively with prosecutors, court personnel, and opposing counsel.
  • Maintain meticulous case files and tracking of deadlines.

Collaboration & Professionalism
  • Work closely with partners and senior associates to refine case strategy.
  • Participate in case reviews, team meetings, and continuing legal education opportunities.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards and professionalism in client interaction and courtroom conduct.
  • Note: Duties may vary with firm needs and case assignments.

What you need to have:
Required Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in good standing with the Arizona State Bar
  • 2+ years criminal defense, prosecution, or related litigation experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated legal research and writing capability
  • Keen analytical and strategic thinking
  • Experience conducting hearings and litigation in Arizona courts
  • Familiarity with criminal procedure and trial advocacy
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines with professionalism
