Description:
Sarphie Law, L.L.C. is seeking a motivated, hardworking Associate Attorney with 0–2 years of experience who is eager to develop litigation skills while advocating for injured workers. Our firm represents injured workers throughout Louisiana in state and Longshore workers' compensation matters, as well as federal employees nationwide in claims arising under the Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FECA). We are looking for an attorney who wants more than just a job—someone who is genuinely interested in learning how to practice law, developing courtroom and litigation skills, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of injured workers.
Prior workers' compensation experience is not required. We are willing to teach the right person.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Licensed to practice law in Louisiana and in good standing with the Louisiana State Bar Association.
- 0–2 years of legal experience. Newly admitted attorneys are encouraged to apply.
- Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills.
- Excellent telephone and in-person communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- A genuine desire to learn litigation, including conducting depositions, appearing in court, preparing witnesses, and developing cases for trial.
- Willingness to travel throughout Louisiana for hearings, depositions, client meetings, and other case-related matters.
- Ability to work independently, manage responsibilities, and accept constructive feedback.
- Commitment to working in-office, with remote work available, as part of a collaborative legal team.
What we are looking for:
The practice of law is not always a 9-to-5 profession. Becoming a capable attorney requires time, dedication, preparation, and a willingness to continually learn.
We are looking for someone who understands that professional growth does not happen overnight. Developing the skills necessary to effectively represent clients requires hard work, attention to detail, and a commitment to the profession.
In return, our firm is committed to investing the time and effort necessary to teach and mentor an attorney who is ready to learn.
This is an opportunity to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in litigation rather than simply being assigned research projects or administrative tasks. The selected candidate will have opportunities to work directly with clients, develop cases, prepare legal arguments, participate in depositions, and appear in court.
Our Firm's Core Values
At Sarphie Law, our practice is built around three core values:
Care. Support. Understanding.
We represent people who have been injured at work, many of whom are facing significant medical, financial, and personal challenges. Our clients deserve attorneys who listen, communicate clearly, treat them with dignity, and genuinely care about their circumstances.
We expect our attorneys to share these values and recognize that effective legal representation requires more than knowing the law. It requires patience, compassion, professionalism, and a commitment to helping people through difficult situations.
What we offer:
- Direct mentorship and practical training from an experienced workers' compensation attorney.
- Hands-on exposure to state and federal workers' compensation litigation.
- Opportunities to participate in depositions, hearings, and court appearances.
- Meaningful client interaction and case responsibility.
- An opportunity to develop specialized knowledge in multiple workers' compensation systems.
- A supportive professional environment that values dedication, professional development, and client service.
How to Apply:
Interested applicants should submit a resume, cover letter, and legal writing sample.
In your cover letter, please explain why you are interested in representing injured workers and what you hope to accomplish during your first few years practicing law.
We are not necessarily looking for the applicant with the most experience. We are looking for the applicant with the right attitude, work ethic, communication skills, and willingness to learn.
