The Law Office of Kathleen D. Hayes is a Glastonbury law firm dedicated to serving clients in the areas of special needs planning, estate planning, and elder law. The firm is seeking a personable, driven and collaborative individual to join the team as a full-time Associate Attorney.

In this role, the applicant will draft estate planning documents, with an emphasis on planning for high net worth individuals, families, and closely held businesses; prepare Medicaid applications; and prepare and file probate documentation. Ideally, the applicant will have 2 to 5 years of experience in trusts & estates. A background in tax and/or an LLM in tax or estate planning is preferred, but not required. The applicant must possess strong organizational skills and an impeccable attention to detail. Additionally, the applicant must be able to manage client communications and work diligently and independently.

Position: Associate Attorney

Job Description:
  • Prepare sophisticated estate plans for high net worth individuals, families, and closely held businesses
  • Prepare general estate planning documents including but not limited to Power of Attorneys, Advance Directives, Wills, Revocable Living Trusts, Irrevocable Trusts, and Special Needs Trusts
  • Manage client files and communications
  • Prepare and submit Medicaid applications for community-based programs and long term care services and supports
  • Prepare financial reports for conservatorships, trusts, and decedents' estates
  • Prepare and submit petitions to Probate Court and provide client representation
  • Prepare and submit documentation for decedents' estates

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctorate
  • CT license to practice law, in good standing with the CT Bar Association
  • 2-5 years experience in Trusts and Estates
  • LLM in tax or estate planning preferred, but not required
