Federico Schwartz Merolesi & Lyddane LLP is a premier boutique law firm seeking a talented Associate Attorney to join our defense litigation team. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and writing skills, experience managing cases through discovery, and a desire to grow in a fast-paced litigation environment.Role Description:
- Defend clients in medical malpractice and general liability cases.
- Manage files through all stages of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, and motion practice.
- Draft and argue motions.
- Conduct legal research.
- Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and experts.
- Prepare cases for trial, including expert coordination and pretrial submissions.
- Appear in court for hearings, conferences, and mediations.
- Communicate with clients, experts, and opposing counsel in a professional and effective manner.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active license and good standing with the New York State Bar.
- 2–3 years of litigation experience, preferably in medical malpractice and/or general liability defense.
- Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
- For this position, you must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience defending healthcare providers, hospitals, nursing homes or insurers.
- Deposition and motion hearing experience.
- Trial preparation.
