Role and Responsibilities:
This listing is for a full-time Associate Attorney position within the firm's Mass Tort Practice Group. Paralegals in this group provide crucial support to the legal team in cases involving catastrophic personal injuries and/or wrongful death caused by the negligence of others.
The Mass Tort Associate Attorney will be responsible for advising and representing our clients in court, conducting research and analysis of legal problems, interpreting laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses, and prosecuting mass tort claims.
Responsibilities will include:
- Analyze and evaluate medical records, reports, and testimonies to thoroughly understand the case.
- Consult and develop medical experts to ascertain liability.
- Investigate and gather evidence to support the client's claim.
- Conduct witness interviews and prepare all witnesses for depositions.
- Prepare and file complaints, motions, appeals, and correspondence to courts.
- Represent clients in court, take expert and fact depositions and present their case to a jury.
- Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients.
- Stay updated on the latest medical developments and legal precedents related to medical malpractice.
- Guide clients through the legal process and keep them informed about their case.
- Follow strict standards of legal ethics when dealing with clients.
- Work closely with a team of lawyers and collaborate with paralegals and legal assistants.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
The successful candidate should have the following qualifications:
- Understanding of medical terminologies, practices, and procedures.
- Strong research skills, with the ability to analyze and synthesize complex legal, medical information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask on a variety of high-level assignments while continuously producing thoughtful, intelligent, quality work products.
- Eager to take the initiative and drive cases forward.
- Outstanding negotiation skills.
Education and Experience:
- Five plus years of litigation experience with a minimum of five first chair jury trials to verdict.
- Medical malpractice claims experience desired.
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
