Hancock, Daniel & Johnson, a nationally recognized healthcare law firm with more than 50 attorneys, is seeking a Labor & Employment Associate Attorney to join its Corporate Team in Richmond, Virginia.

This is an opportunity to build on your existing experience while working with sophisticated clients, taking on meaningful legal work, and developing your practice alongside experienced attorneys in a collaborative environment.

What You'll Do:
As a Labor & Employment Associate, you will work on a broad range of employment law matters and have the opportunity to develop both your employment counseling and employment litigation skills.

Your responsibilities may include:
  • Advising clients on federal and state employment laws and regulations
  • Counseling employers on employment compliance, workplace policies, and employee relations matters
  • Drafting and reviewing employment agreements, contracts, policies, handbooks, and separation agreements
  • Conducting legal research and analysis on complex labor and employment issues
  • Representing clients in employment litigation, administrative proceedings, and agency matters
  • Assisting with matters involving wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, leave, and workplace compliance
  • Conducting and advising clients regarding workplace investigations
  • Preparing legal memoranda, pleadings, motions, discovery, and other litigation-related documents
  • Working directly with clients and collaborating with attorneys across the firm

Who We're Looking for:
We are seeking an attorney who is intellectually curious, client-focused, and eager to grow within a sophisticated labor and employment law practice.

Qualifications:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in Virginia, or eligible to waive into Virginia
  • 1-4 years of labor and employment law experience
  • Law firm experience strongly preferred; judicial clerkship experience is a plus
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations
  • Experience with employment counseling, compliance, litigation, or administrative agency matters preferred
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and competing priorities
  • Strong commitment to exceptional client service
  • Collaborative, proactive, and team-oriented approach
  • Demonstrated interest in continuous professional development
