Overview:An Award-Winning Law Firm is a mid-size law firm with Portland and Seattle offices. We focus on insurance coverage litigation and defense litigation. Our Seattle office has an opening for an associate with three to five years of experience. Excellent academic record and writing skills required. Experience with emphasis on complex litigation, commercial litigation or insurance coverage preferred. Position offers competitive compensation package and excellent growth potential.
Duties:
- Conduct legal research and analysis on various issues
- Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, and briefs
- Assist with case management and preparation for litigation
- Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop legal strategies
- Attend client meetings and court hearings as required
- Negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of clients
- Provide legal advice and guidance to clients
- Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations relevant to the practice area
Skills:
- Strong legal drafting skills with the ability to write clear and concise documents
- Proficient in conducting legal research using resources such as Westlaw and Lexis-Nexis
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work product
- Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical solutions
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
- Experience in litigation, including courtroom experience, is preferred but not required
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the state bar association (state-specific requirements may apply)
- Prior experience working as an Associate Attorney or in a similar role is preferred but not required
