Overview:
The Scranton Office of Margolis Edelstein, a regional insurance defense law firm, seeks a dynamic and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our legal team, on a flexible part-time basis, with room to grow. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work across a diverse range of legal practice areas, including personal injury defense, worker's compensation, construction litigation, and civil litigation. As an Associate Attorney, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive legal support, conducting in-depth research, drafting legal documents, and assisting with case management. This position is ideal for motivated legal professionals of all experience levels to develop their expertise in multiple practice areas while contributing to impactful client solutions. We offer Associates the opportunity to gain real world experience and personally handle matters from start to finish, including client meetings, depositions, mediations and arbitrations, and Hearings and Trial work. Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough legal research using online tools to support case strategies and legal opinions
  • Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, contracts, briefs, and memoranda with precision and clarity
  • Assist in managing litigation cases from inception through resolution by coordinating discovery, depositions, and court filings
  • Negotiate settlements and agreements across various practice areas to achieve favorable outcomes for clients
  • Maintain organized case files and ensure all legal administrative tasks are completed accurately and timely

Requirements:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with active Pennsylvania bar admission
  • Demonstrated experience or strong interest in multiple practice areas
  • Proficiency in legal research tools including LexisNexis and Westlaw; experience with Law office management software is a plus
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce clear and persuasive legal drafting
  • Strong analytical skills complemented by meticulous attention to detail
  • Effective negotiation skills combined with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly
  • Prior billing and legal administrative experience preferred but not required; a proactive attitude toward learning new areas of law is essential
