Associate Attorney

Overview:
Morell Cartagena & Dapena, a San Juan–based law firm serving both international and local clients, is seeking a motivated and fully bilingual Associate Attorney to join our Litigation and/or Labor Department.

This position is ideal for a recently admitted attorney or one with up to three (3) years of experience who is eager to develop strong litigation, analytical, and writing skills in a collaborative professional environment. The selected candidate will work closely with senior attorneys in handling complex cases, drafting pleadings, conducting legal research, and participating in client communications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct legal research and analysis in litigation and labor/employment matters.
• Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, and other legal documents in English and Spanish.
• Assist in case preparation, discovery review, and hearing/trial support.
• Participate in meetings and strategy sessions with supervising attorneys.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date case files.
• Communicate with clients and agencies in a professional, bilingual manner.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Juris Doctor and license to practice law in Puerto Rico (required).
• Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong legal research and writing abilities.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple assignments.
• Prior experience or interest in litigation or labor/employment law preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with legal research databases such as Westlaw or LexisNexis is a plus.
