A Corpus Christi Attorney is a full-service litigation law firm with offices in San Antonio and Corpus Christi, Texas.. We serve clients in all areas of Texas, but our primary geographical region is from San Antonio west to Del Rio, east to south Houston and south to the Rio Grande Valley. The firm is looking to fill openings in both our Corpus Christi and San Antonio locations. UMH seeks an attorney with 3 to 5 years of civil litigation experience, either on the plaintiff or defense side of the docket, to assist with and/or handle the defense of a wide variety of personal injury and general liability cases. Thus, the candidate(s) should be ready to immediately handle an existing caseload. The position is full-time and in-office with an opportunity for some remote work. Requirements:
Experience:
  • Membership in the Texas Bar
  • At least three years of experience is preferred
  • Experience in insurance defense strongly preferred

Skills:
  • Ability to handle a large docket of cases
  • Aptitude for detail-oriented, analytical thinking
  • Persuasive oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Knowledge:
  • Broad knowledge of personal injury law
  • Process-oriented mindset, with proven ability to meet deadlines and stay organized
  • Proficiency with technologies that reduce costs and facilitate the practice of law and remote work
  • Experience with Clio a plus

Responsibilities:
  • Handle personal injury and general liability cases from intake through verdict including written discovery, fact and expert witness depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial preparation.
  • Correspond and report to insurance personnel regarding facts of loss, liability, defense strategy, venue, case evaluation, and probable outcomes.
  • Review, analyze and summarize claims documents including medical records, discovery document production, and other pertinent litigation related materials.
  • Draft and respond to motions, demonstrating a deep understanding of legal principles and procedures.
