Description:Harper Law Firm is seeking a driven, highly organized Associate Personal Injury Attorney to join our growing plaintiff personal injury practice.
This position is ideal for an attorney who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and is ready to take ownership of a substantial pre-litigation docket. The Associate Attorney will be responsible for actively moving cases toward resolution, developing case strategy, negotiating with insurance carriers, and maximizing case value while providing an exceptional level of service to clients.
In addition to managing a pre-litigation caseload, the Associate Attorney will work closely with Lead Attorneys and the firm's legal team to assist with litigation matters, including discovery responses, depositions, hearings, mediations, case preparation, and other projects necessary to keep cases progressing.

Qualifications:
- Manage a heavy docket of plaintiff personal injury cases, primarily in the pre-litigation stage.
- Take ownership of assigned cases and proactively move them toward resolution.
- Develop and execute case strategies designed to maximize client recovery and case value.
- Review medical records, treatment history, damages, liability evidence, insurance coverage, and other case documentation.
- Identify treatment gaps, outstanding evidence, coverage issues, liability concerns, and other obstacles that may delay or negatively impact a case.
- Evaluate cases for settlement and determine when matters should transition into litigation.
- Review and provide strategic direction on settlement demands.
- Negotiate directly with insurance adjusters and defense representatives.
- Conduct settlement negotiations and obtain appropriate authority from clients.
- Maintain accurate case valuations and settlement projections.
- Ensure assigned cases consistently progress and do not become stagnant.
Litigation & Lead Attorney Support
- Work closely with Lead Attorneys to move litigation matters forward efficiently.
- Draft, review, and assist with discovery requests and responses, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
- Assist with drafting pleadings, motions, responses, and other litigation documents.
- Prepare clients for depositions, mediations, hearings, and other proceedings.
- Take and defend depositions as assigned.
- Assist Lead Attorneys with preparation for mediations, hearings, depositions, and trials.
- Conduct legal research and prepare case-specific legal analysis when needed.
- Coordinate with paralegals, experts, medical providers, and other team members to ensure deadlines and case objectives are met.
- Handle additional attorney projects and assignments necessary to keep cases moving toward resolution.
Client & Team Communication
- Maintain consistent, professional communication with clients regarding case status, strategy, settlement negotiations, and next steps.
- Clearly explain legal issues and recommendations to clients.
- Work closely with assigned paralegals and legal assistants to ensure cases are actively progressing.
- Provide clear direction to support staff and follow up to ensure assigned work is completed.
- Communicate proactively with Lead Attorneys regarding significant case developments, risks, settlement opportunities, and matters requiring escalation.
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and firm leadership to achieve individual and firm-wide production goals.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active Texas Bar license and membership in good standing required.
- Approximately 3–4 years of attorney experience preferred, with plaintiff personal injury experience strongly preferred.
- Experience managing a personal injury caseload from intake through settlement.
- Strong understanding of personal injury claims, insurance coverage, damages, medical treatment, and settlement negotiations.
- Litigation and discovery experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload without sacrificing quality or client service.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, legal writing, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and maintain urgency in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable receiving feedback, being held accountable to measurable goals, and continuously improving.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of an attorney/paralegal team.
