Jefferson Law Center is a rapidly growing plaintiff-side medical malpractice firm seeking two Associate Attorneys to join our team immediately.

Our practice focuses on medical malpractice and catastrophic injury litigation, advocating for individuals and families who have suffered serious harm due to medical mistakes. We are a close-knit team currently consisting of two attorneys, three paralegals, and an administrative assistant, and we are expanding as our caseload continues to grow.

Located in the heart of the Nautical Mile on Jefferson Avenue in St. Clair Shores, our firm is committed to defending the Seventh Amendment and the constitutional right to seek justice for injuries wrongfully inflicted. This is an on-site position based in our St. Clair Shores office.

Responsibilities:
This full-time position involves representing plaintiffs through all stages of medical malpractice and personal injury litigation, including:
  • Conducting pre-suit investigations and case evaluations
  • Investigating the facts surrounding medical care and treatment, including birth injury and catastrophic injury claims
  • Drafting and preparing complaints, notices of intent (NOIs), pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, and discovery materials
  • Conducting legal and medical research relevant to case development
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing medical records, deposition transcripts, and discovery responses
  • Preparing case evaluation summaries and demand packages
  • Initiating and conducting depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts
  • Interviewing and consulting with medical experts
  • Meeting with clients and professionals to discuss case strategy and developments
  • Attending and participating in state and federal court proceedings
  • Organizing and maintaining files within both paper and electronic case management systems
  • Participating in firm meetings, activities, and strategic discussions
  • Assisting with marketing initiatives and administrative matters as needed

Qualifications:
  • 0–3 years of experience preferred (on the job training will be provided)
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Admission to the State Bar of Michigan
  • Strong legal writing and research skills
  • Ability to conduct medical literature research and analyze complex medical records
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work compassionately with clients experiencing traumatic circumstances
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple litigation tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small litigation team
  • Experience with case management systems such as Clio is a plus

Work Environment:
  • Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Additional hours may occasionally be required depending on litigation demands.
  • Some remote work flexibility may be available when appropriate.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and discussed with lead attorney.
