Description:

Small employment/education/labor law firm seeks full-time Associate attorney to assist with employee-side, union-side and teacher representation. Bar passage is required. 0-5 years legal experience preferred. Associate attorney will work closely with four partners and receive mentorship and supervision. Base salary matches the State of California Attorney salary schedule; bonus schedule available. Starting salary pay range of $95,600.00 - $130,224.00 per year DOE ($10,000 annual bonus based on billable hours also available). Four weeks annual paid (vacation/sick) leave, plus we normally close the office for a week between Christmas and New Year's Day. Paid health and dental benefits. 401k plan with up to 5% matching contributions after one year of employment. Responsibilities:
  • Conduct legal research and analysis using various resources such as Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw.
  • Draft letters and legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and contracts.
  • Assist in the preparation of cases for trial, including conducting witness interviews and gathering evidence.
  • Negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of clients.
  • Represent clients in administrative and court hearings and other legal proceedings.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to clients.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and documentation.

Requirements:
  • Admission to the State Bar of California.
  • Strong knowledge of legal principles, procedures, and practices.
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide effective solutions.
