Job Summary:
Platt & Westby is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our growing legal team. This position gives you the opportunity to expand on your foundation in a varied practice across civil litigation, family law, and probate matters. The ideal candidate has 1-3 years of legal experience and is motivated and eager to acquire extensive courtroom experience, handle client relationships, and advance professionally within a collaborative and established law firm.

Duties:
  • Represent clients in civil, family law, and probate matters.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction and engagement.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, pleadings, discovery requests, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Attend court hearings, trials, depositions, mediations, and settlement conferences.
  • Handle the preparation, organization, and management of contracts, sales agreements, and all related documentation.
  • Proactively manage caseloads while maintaining high standards of client service and responsiveness.
  • Communicate efficiently with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and third parties.
  • Aide with case strategy and litigation preparation.
  • Review and extensively analyze legal documents, contracts, financial records, evidence findings and more.
  • Organize and maintain accurate case files, billing records, and time entries.
  • Keep updated on legal developments affecting the firm's practice areas.

Education and Experience:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • License to practice law in Arizona and in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of legal experience.
  • Experience in civil litigation, family law, probate, or a combination of these practice areas.
  • Experience drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.

Preferred:
  • Courtroom, hearing, mediation, or deposition experience.
