Description:

We are looking for an Associate Attorney who wants to build a career in criminal defense, gain meaningful courtroom experience, and be part of a team that takes pride in standing up for our clients.

What You'll Do:
As an Associate Attorney at Whiddon Criminal Defense, you will play an active role in defending clients and supporting the litigation process from start to finish.

Responsibilities include:
  • Conducting legal research using Westlaw and LexisNexis
  • Drafting motions, pleadings, briefs, and legal memoranda
  • Preparing cases for hearings, negotiations, and trial
  • Reviewing discovery, police reports, and evidence
  • Communicating with clients regarding case updates and legal strategy
  • Appearing in court for hearings and procedural matters
  • Assisting in the development of defense strategies
  • Collaborating with attorneys and staff to move cases forward efficiently
  • Maintaining organized case files and ensuring deadlines are met

What We're Looking For:
The ideal candidate is motivated, confident in court, and passionate about defending clients.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law or eligible for admission in the relevant jurisdiction
  • Strong legal research and writing abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills

Preferred but not required:
  • Criminal law or litigation experience
  • Courtroom or hearing experience
  • Familiarity with criminal procedure and evidence
