Associate Attorney (Family Law + Secondary Practice Area)

Serving clients for over 130 years, Farrish Johnson Law Office was established in 1893 and is one of the most experienced and trusted law firms in Southern Minnesota. Our seven-attorney firm is located in Mankato and is proud of its long history, collaborative culture, and highly skilled support staff. We are currently seeking a Full-Time Associate Attorney with 0-5 years of experience to handle a caseload split between family law and another practice area aligned with the candidate's background and interests.

This position offers the opportunity to develop a well-rounded legal practice, working on diverse matters while receiving mentorship from experienced attorneys. The ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility, strong legal knowledge, and a commitment to achieving positive outcomes for clients while maintaining the highest standards of legal ethics and professionalism.

Compensation:
Starting salary: $90,000

Additional formulaic incentive bonus plan based on performance.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the State of Minnesota.
  • At least 0-5 years of experience in family law and/or another practice area.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in family law matters.
  • Background in any of the firm's other practice areas.
  • Familiarity with mediation and alternative dispute resolution.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage a mixed caseload of family law and another substantive practice area.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including petitions, motions, contracts, or agreements, as applicable.
  • Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, negotiations, and administrative proceedings.
  • Provide clients with timely and clear communication regarding their cases and legal options.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and support staff to ensure effective case management.
