Westwood boutique Law Firm looking for two associates.Maybe you have spent your first year or two learning how litigation works by watching it happen to other people. You drafted the motion someone else argued. You summarized the deposition someone else took. You are ready to stop watching.
Or maybe you have already been in court. You have taken your own depositions and argued your own motions, and what you want now is harder cases and partners who will push you into them rather than hold you at the level you are already good at.
We are interested in both.
The Darvish Firm is a boutique litigation practice handling business, real estate, construction, and trust disputes in California state and federal courts. Seven attorneys, three partners, and an office we are expanding because the work keeps growing.
If you have not really been in court yet
You will be, quickly, and you will not be sent in alone. Your first appearance, your first deposition, and your first argued motion each come after you have prepared them with a partner who has done that exact thing many times. Then you do it, and afterward we talk about how it went. We would rather teach you in your second year than watch you learn by accident in your fifth. We invest real time in teaching, because we intend for you to still be here in ten years.
If you have been in court and want more of it
You will have your own cases and your own clients, and you will run them. You will not be handed the small matters while the interesting ones go upstairs. The ceiling here is the complexity you can handle, and we find that ceiling by giving you more, not by making you wait for it. When you hit a question you have not seen before, you will walk down the hall and ask the partner who has handled that exact issue, and you will get an answer, not a calendar invite.

Salary based on experience, with health, dental, and 401(k). Profit sharing on every case you bring in, starting with your first one, so the relationships you build from day one pay you and not only the firm. A path upward that is measured by what you can do, not by how many years you have waited.
What we are looking for:
At least one year of civil litigation experience and a California license in good standing. We are willing to train a new admittee depending on their experience. Courtroom experience is welcome and not required. What matters is that you want it. Someone who wants to be very good at this and is willing to be edited on the way there. Someone who takes pride in the work that goes out under their name, because we do. And someone who wants a close working relationship with the attorneys they work with, rather than a name on a door they rarely see behind.
Why a boutique
Big firms will give you a bigger name on your resume. We will give you the skills the name is supposed to imply, three or four years earlier. Our attorneys have taken hundreds of cases through state and federal court, and you will learn how by doing it next to them.
