Role Description:
We are looking for an Attorney to join our team. An attorney with any level of experience may apply, including those who took the California bar exam in February 2024 and are waiting for results. Salary will depend on experience. As an Attorney, you will be responsible for representing clients in immigration court, state court, and with USCIS. This is an excellent opportunity for a new attorney seeking to learn about immigration law, or an experienced attorney looking to do fulfilling work in a collaborative environment. We don't expect anyone to work longer than 40 hours a week or on weekends.

  • Juris Doctorate;
  • Active California state bar license (or bar status pending bar exam results);
  • Strong case management, and legal writing skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative;
  • Passion for social justice for immigrants required;
  • Spanish fluency (or a willingness to learn Spanish quickly) required.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Attorneys will work primarily with unaccompanied children;
  • Provide high-quality representation for children at immigration court hearings, and in state court proceedings;
  • Represent clients before USCIS at asylum interviews and other immigration related appointments;
  • Prepare and submit evidence including applications, declarations, supplemental evidence, and country conditions;
  • Work with expert witnesses, such as psychologists, or other professionals to develop supporting evidence;
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and participate in case reviews;
  • Data entry (including billing);
  • Fight for social justice for immigrants.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with the following forms of immigration cases is helpful: asylum, special immigrant juvenile status (family court/probate court);
  • Live in Eastern Los Angeles County or in the Inland Empire.
