Our firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join us in our Fort Lauderdale office assisting domestic and international clients with their Defense Base Act cases, a form of federal Workers' Compensation. Please read requirements before applying.This position is a great fit for attorneys who have worked in the practice of Workers' Compensation or injury law. Such examples include Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice, or Administrative law to name a few. In this position you will work as part of a team advocating for domestic and international clients with Defense Base Act claims with primary responsibilities including defending claimant depositions, vocational assessments, client meetings, drafting pleadings, attend bench decisions, and draft written briefs.
Training provided for candidates who may not have experience in this specialty but has experience in other practice.
Requirements:
- Admitted in Florida in good standing and licensed to practice law (sworn in)
- Very organized and deadline driven
- Federal experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong computer technical skills to stay organized in a paperless office environment
- Good communication with clients
- Work in a paperless environment
- Strong comprehension on how to write motions, briefs, etc.
- Prior experience with injury claims (plaintiff/claimant or defense) preferred but not required
