Description:
The Opportunity:We're looking for an entry-level attorney to join our litigation team. This is a great opportunity for a newly licensed attorney to get hands-on courtroom experience quickly, working directly on collections litigation, judgment enforcement, and related civil matters across multiple states. You'll work closely with our experienced attorneys and account recovery professionals in a firm where legal staff, investigators, and lawyers collaborate closely on every file.
What You'll Do:
- Draft, file, and manage civil complaints, motions, and related pleadings in collections and judgment enforcement matters
- Represent clients in court appearances, hearings, and, where appropriate, trials
- Pursue judgment recovery through garnishments, executions, replevin, and other post-judgment remedies
- Assist with foreign judgment domestication and enforcement across state lines
- Review account files, correspond with opposing counsel and self-represented parties, and negotiate resolutions
- Ensure all communications and collection activity remain fully compliant with the FDCPA, FCRA, state collection laws, and other applicable local, state, and federal regulations
- Work with our chief compliance attorney on client deliverables and SOP's
What We're Looking For:
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active license (or eligibility to be licensed) to practice law in Colorado; willingness to seek admission in additional states (Idaho, Nebraska, Utah, Wyoming) as needed
- Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Comfort with a high-volume litigation caseload and court appearances
- A professional, respectful approach to working with both clients and consumers
- High ethical standards and attention to compliance
- Prior clerkship, internship, or law school clinic experience in litigation, collections, or civil procedure is a plus, but not required
- Direct courtroom and litigation experience from day one — not a "shadow for a year" role
- Mentorship from attorneys recognized by ACA International, CLLA, and NARCA, including firm leadership involved in shaping Colorado's civil procedure rules
- Multi-state practice exposure across the Mountain West
- Supportive, team-based environment with in-house investigators and account recovery staff
- Established, stable firm with 30 years in the industry
