Immigration Attorney Position: a small but busy downtown Chicago-based law firm is seeking to hire an associate attorney to join its immigration and nationality practice. The attorney will provide services in all areas of immigration practice, including family-based, removal defense, employment-based, and naturalization. Requirements: (1) Juris Doctor; (2) admitted to (or passed) the Illinois bar; (3) fluency in Spanish; (4) experience or strong interest in immigration advocacy.If you are interested in the position, please send your resume and a five-page writing sample.
Job Responsibilities:
- Represent client before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (Immigration Court) in their removal proceedings.
- Draft detailed motions, letters, responses to requests for evidence/notices of intent to deny.
- Provide legal analysis for clients to determine any possible pathways.
- Manage various projects and deadlines.
- Communicate effectively with clients.
- Research unique legal issues by identifying applicable statutes and caselaw.
- Stay abreast of legislative changes that may affect immigration.
- Develop solutions to complex legal questions.
