About the Law Office of Carolina C. GomezThe Law Office of Carolina C. Gomez is a Los Angeles–based law firm founded in 2012. Immigration law is the core of our practice, but our work regularly overlaps with family law and criminal law, particularly post-conviction relief (PCR) and appellate matters related to immigration consequences.
Our practice includes:
- Family-based and defensive immigration (EOIR)
- Federal and administrative appeals (AAO, BIA, Federal District Court, Ninth Circuit)
- Criminal post-conviction relief and immigration-related criminal appellate work
- Family law matters such as custody, dissolutions and guardianship, especially where tied to immigration relief
- We are a small, collaborative firm that values mentorship, accountability, and meaningful advocacy. Attorneys here work closely together, receive hands-on training, and gain real courtroom and litigation experience early in their careers.
Who This Position Is For
This role is ideal for an attorney who is newly licensed or early in their career and is interested in learning immigration law, family law, criminal post-conviction work, or a combination of these areas.
Immigration experience is not required. We are open to candidates with no prior immigration background who are curious, motivated, and eager to learn. Experience or interest in family law, criminal law, or appellate work is a strong plus.

Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in immigration court (EOIR), USCIS interviews, criminal court and family/probate courts (training provided)
- Draft motions, briefs, and legal filings, including appellate and post-conviction submissions
- Assist with criminal post-conviction relief and immigration-related criminal matters
- Handle family law matters such as custody and guardianship cases tied to immigration relief
- Prepare cases for hearings and court appearances
- Maintain organized case files, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly with clients and staff
- Collaborate with supervising attorneys on case strategy
Qualifications:
- Active California State Bar license (required)
- 0–4 years of experience; newly barred attorneys encouraged to apply
- Strong legal writing and analytical skills
- Organized, dependable, and able to manage deadlines
- Comfortable receiving feedback and asking questions
- Spanish is a plus but not required

- Salary range: $100,000+ depending on experience and fit

Important Note:
This role requires availability to attend in-person court hearings in Los Angeles. While we offer flexibility and hybrid work, this is not a fully remote position.
