Description:

German Gallagher & Murtagh, P.C. (GGM) has been part of the fabric of the Philadelphia legal community for more than 40 years. From our Center City headquarters and Cherry Hill office, we represent national insurers, Fortune 500 companies, manufacturers, healthcare systems, financial institutions, and closely held businesses in a variety of complex civil litigation matters.

We are a trial-focused firm that values sharp advocacy, intellectual depth, industry savvy, and professional growth. Many of our attorneys bring prior judicial clerkships, government service, and advanced technical backgrounds to their practice. We pride ourselves on combining substantive excellence with a collegial, team-oriented culture.

We are seeking a 2–4 year litigation associate who wants to actually litigate.

This is not a “super-adjuster” role. The associate who joins our team will be meaningfully involved in cases from day one — developing strategy, meeting with clients, taking and defending depositions, drafting and arguing dispositive motions, handling court appearances, participating in mediations, and working cases through trial and/or appeal. You will work directly with experienced trial lawyers and sophisticated clients, gaining hands-on experience that builds real courtroom and advocacy skills.

What You'll Do:
  • Manage and develop civil defense cases from inception through resolution
  • Draft and argue motions; handle discovery and depositions
  • Appear in state and federal courts
  • Collaborate with partners on trial strategy and case positioning
  • Engage directly with clients and carriers as a trusted advisor

The Practice
Experience in casualty, professional liability, insurance coverage, or related civil defense litigation is preferred. Pennsylvania and New Jersey licensure required.

Growth & Business Development
We believe strong litigators should also have the opportunity to become strong rainmakers. GGM actively supports associates in developing marketing initiatives, cultivating client relationships, and building their professional networks. Associates are encouraged to attend industry events, write, speak, and participate in bar and trade organizations. This position offers meaningful exposure to clients and carriers — providing a strong foundation for developing your own book of business over time.
