Description:
The Associate will work on litigation and coverage matters. The day-to-day responsibilities will include legal research; drafting liability and exposure assessments for insurance carriers; drafting pleadings, written discovery, and dispositive motions; conducting and defending depositions; handling court appearances; assisting in mediation and trial preparation; and independently managing a full case load. The Associate will also assist in the recovery of insurance carrier expenses and liability payments. Specific duties include the following:- Representing government contractors and their insurers with respect to claims arising. Drafting liability and exposure assessments for insurance carriers relating to the defense of claims.
- Drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery requests relating to cases before judicial and administrative tribunals. Conducting and defending depositions of witnesses and medical experts.
- Appearance at court appearances, including pre-trial conferences and motion hearings. Appearance at mediation on behalf of insurance carriers. Assisting with all aspects of trial preparation including drafting pre-trial filings, analysis of case strategy, appearance at trial hearings, and drafting of post-hearing briefs.
- Conducting settlement discussions with opposing counsel. Providing regular reporting and recommendations to clients regarding case status, legal analysis, and case strategy. Daily supervision of two (2) legal assistants.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Law, plus admission to NY bar, plus 1 year progressive postgraduate experience. Range $94K - $165K per year. A Business Law Firm, New York, NY.
