Position Summary:
Handles a docket of litigation PI cases, working closely with partners and paralegals to move matters efficiently toward settlement or trial.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and argue motions, responses, and discovery.
- Take and defend depositions; attend mediations and pre-trial conferences.
- Develop case themes and evaluation of liability and damages.
- Prepare clients and witnesses for deposition, mediation, and trial.
- Maintain proactive communication with clients and opposing counsel.
- Conduct factual and legal investigation, legal research, and motion practice.
- Manage discovery, including depositions and written discovery.
- Negotiate settlements and participate in mediations.
- Provide regular client updates and risk/value counseling.
- Work with paralegal to ensure organized files and timely responses.
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of attorney experience (personal injury and litigation experience preferred).
- Thorough knowledge of civil litigation procedures, discovery rules, and e‑filing in Utah and U.S. District Court.
- Exceptional written, oral and presentational communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize, multi‑task, and thrive under deadlines while maintaining professionalism and empathy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in drafting initial disclosures, discovery requests, discovery responses, statements of discovery issues, subpoenas, expert disclosures, and pretrial disclosures.
- Litigation experience.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) or other language proficiency.
