Description:

The Associate Attorney will zealously represent and counsel clients concerning their legal rights and obligations in Workers' Compensation cases. The Associate Attorney will be responsible for daily preparation for and attendance at Workers' Compensation hearings before the Industrial Commission of Ohio. Additional responsibilities include client communication and collaboration with a team of legal professionals servicing a docket of injured workers.

Responsibilities:
  • Meet with existing, new and potential clients regarding their Workers' Compensation claims
  • Provide an excellent client experience in a knowledgeable, professional and empathetic manner
  • Communicate with clients and medical providers regarding treatment issues
  • Provide a thorough review of each case and evaluate claims to determine necessary tasks and next steps. Review files for claim evaluation, treatment status, and settlement value
  • Provide coverage and support as needed to other attorneys in the firm
  • Establish and maintain effective, professional and congenial working relationships with support team
  • Demonstrate the core values of the firm: be a champion for our clients and be accountable
  • Ongoing administrative maintenance of checklist items
  • Build client and professional relationships that result in referrals

Qualifications:
  • Admission to the Ohio Bar
  • JD from an accredited college or university
  • 1-3 years' Workers' Compensation experience preferred; will consider newly admitted attorneys
  • Strong ability to present and argue elements and issues of a Workers' Compensation claim in front of a Hearing Officer
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills and the ability to function effectively and efficiently in a high-volume practice
  • Excellent ability to conduct legal research and legal analysis
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time-management skills, be detail-oriented and able to implement prioritizing strategies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with clients, support staff, other attorneys, and hearing officers
  • Competence in file management software and Microsoft Office
