The Recruitment Range for This Position Is Limited to $73,208. Salary Offers for The Selected Candidate Are Based on The Candidate's Education and Experience Related to The Position, as Well as Our Agency Budget and Equity.

This Is a Civil Litigation Position Within the Public Safety Section of The North Carolina Department of Justice (“doj”). This Position Offers an Unparalleled Opportunity to Gain Extensive Litigation Experience in Federal Court, from Drafting Pleadings, Briefing Dispositive Motions, to Jury Trials.

The Attorney in This Position Will Primarily Defend Civil Actions Brought Against Employees of The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (“dac”). the Attorney in This Position May Also Provide Support to Higher Level Attorneys in The Section on More Complex Litigation as Needed. Additionally, This Position May Be Called upon To Defend Dac or The North Carolina Department of Public Safety in Employment Litigation. the Attorney in This Position, Like All Positions Within the Doj, Will Also Be Part of A Rotation of Attorneys that Handles Criminal Appeals on Behalf of The State.

  • Conducting and Responding to Discovery
  • Researching and Briefing Legal Issues
  • Drafting Dispositive Motions
  • Handling Mediations
  • Trying Cases in Federal and State Courts
  • Criminal Appeals

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Licensed to Practice Law by The North Carolina State Bar.
