Description:

We ideally seek an attorney who is licensed in both Illinois and Indiana.

Position Responsibilities:

Manage first-party property insurance matters from initial case evaluation through settlement and litigation.
Represent policyholders in disputes involving coverage, claim denials, underpayments, delays, and other insurance-related issues.
Review and analyze insurance policies, claim files, estimates, photographs, reports, and other relevant documentation.
Evaluate coverage issues and insurance carrier decisions.
Conduct legal research regarding first-party property insurance law and applicable state law.
Draft complaints, motions, discovery, settlement demands, mediation statements, and other legal documents.
Handle written discovery and assist with depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation.
Communicate directly with clients regarding their claims and case status.
Communicate and negotiate with insurance carriers and opposing counsel.
Work with experts, contractors, public adjusters, engineers, and other professionals involved in property damage claims.
Monitor case deadlines and maintain accurate case-management records.
Participate in settlement negotiations and assist with litigation strategy.
Prepare cases for trial and participate in trial-related proceedings as needed.

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Active bar admission in Illinois or Indiana and in good standing.
Admission in both Illinois and Indiana is strongly preferred.
Experience with first-party property insurance law strongly preferred.
Experience handling property insurance claims, coverage disputes, or insurance litigation is a plus.
Strong legal research and writing skills.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to independently manage multiple cases and deadlines.
Strong client-service skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fully remote, team-oriented environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience handling first-party property insurance matters, including property damage claims, coverage disputes, claim denials, underpayments, and litigation.

An attorney admitted to practice in both Illinois and Indiana is preferred, as this would allow the attorney to handle matters in both jurisdictions.

However, attorneys licensed exclusively in Illinois and exclusively in Indiana are encouraged to apply.
