Start Your Career in Family Law with Mentorship and Real Courtroom ExperienceSunnen Family Law, a growing San Diego family law firm, is seeking a newly barred or junior associate attorney interested in building a long-term career in California family law litigation.
This position offers hands-on training, direct mentorship, and real courtroom exposure. You will work closely with experienced attorneys and gain practical experience handling divorce, custody, support, and post-judgment matters.
We are looking for someone who is motivated, organized, and eager to develop strong litigation skills.
What You'll Do:
- Assist attorneys with family law litigation and case strategy
- Draft Requests for Orders (RFOs), declarations, pleadings, and discovery
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff
- Assist with trial preparation and hearing preparation
- Attend court hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences
- Maintain case deadlines and case management in firm software
Qualifications:
- Active member of the California State Bar
- Newly barred attorneys or attorneys with 0–3 years experience encouraged to apply
- Interest in family law litigation
- Strong legal writing and research skills
- Excellent communication and organization
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team
- Professional demeanor and strong work ethic
Compensation:
Salary: $85,000 – $110,000 depending on experience
Bonus opportunities available based on performance.
