Position Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated Associate Attorney to maintain and manage a full caseload with an interest in family law, criminal defense and general practice litigation. The successful candidate will handle a broad range of cases, including but not limited to: Divorce proceedings, custody disputes, and post-judgment modifications, DUI defense, assault charges, contract issues, and tribal court representation. This position is ideal for a self-starter who is passionate about helping clients navigate the legal system and achieve the best possible outcomes.
Duties:
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case preparation and strategy development.
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, contracts, and agreements across various practice areas.
- Assist in litigation processes by preparing for hearings, trials, and depositions.
- Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on matters related to landlord-tenant law, personal injury law, workers' compensation law, securities law, patent law, and tribal law & regulations.
- Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients while ensuring their best interests are represented.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex cases and contribute to case strategy discussions.
- Maintain organized case files and documentation within the law office environment.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with changes in laws and regulations relevant to practice areas.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school is required.
- Licensed to practice law in the State of North Dakota (or eligible for admission).
- Previous experience in a law office setting is preferred, with exposure to multiple areas of law being advantageous.
- Strong writing skills are essential for drafting legal documents and correspondence effectively.
- Proven ability in legal research methodologies and familiarity with legal databases such as LexisNexis and Westlaw.
- Strong interest in family law, criminal law, and general practice litigation.
