Hopkinson & Abbondanza is a boutique Law Firm with offices in Portland and Bath, Maine with a focus on working with a diverse client community in the areas of Estate Planning, Trusts and Estates, Business Planning and Real Estate. This position will concentrate mainly on Estate Planning. We are seeking an Associate Attorney to join our team full-time.An ideal candidate would have familiarity in the above practice areas. More importantly, the candidate should be willing and open to furthering their experience in these areas of law. The candidate should be able to take direction and advice from our Senior Partners and be a part of a fast-paced legal environment.
We are seeking an attorney, licensed to practice in the State of Maine, with availability to work in both our Portland and Bath offices.
Practice Areas (Focused areas of practice for this opening)
- Estate Planning (Priority) – consulting with clients on preparation of estate planning documents, including Trusts, Wills, Powers of Attorney, and more. Advance planning including Elder Law and Medicaid Trusts, and assistance with some Probate Litigation.
- Business Planning - working with clients to organize new corporations and LLC's; business succession planning, general business advice and consulting.
- Some Real Estate - working with buyers & sellers of real estate and other real estate matters.
Responsibilities:
- Advise and meet with clients on relevant practice areas
- Perform legal research, memos, assist Senior Partners
- Instruct and direct staff members assigned to cases
Qualifications:
- Member in good standing of the Bar for the State of Maine (or easily acquired)
- 3-5 years of experience in the field preferred (minimum of 2-3)
