As an Associate Attorney, you will report to the Chief Legal Officer and oversee matters relating to employment and labor laws. The successful candidate will proactively develop policies and procedures aligning with our company goals and philosophies while mitigating risk whenever possible.

What You'll Do:
  • Counsel People Experience Team on wide range of employee relations, compensation, and talent acquisition matters, including offer letters, wage and hour compliance, performance management, discipline, accommodations, and diversity and inclusion
  • Draft and negotiate employment-related contracts
  • Collaborate with the Chief Legal Officer to develop legal strategies in line with Company values
  • Partner with our People Experience Team (HR) and business leaders to provide responsive and practical advice and guidance on employment-related matters
  • Collaborate with People Experience Team to proactively review employment policies to ensure legal compliance and consistency with best practices and the company's culture
  • Lead or assist with HR-related investigations
  • Work with People Experience Team on hiring and performance management policies and practices
  • Provide harassment and discrimination prevention training to employees
  • Assist with all employment-related litigation matters, including administrative responses, subpoenas, discovery, and motion practices
  • Monitor labor and employment law developments and best practices
  • Stay up to date on relevant state and federal employment laws in multi-state operations
  • Provide subject-matter expertise and training on recruiting, hiring, performance management, compensation and benefits, leaves of absence, internal investigations, terminations, and best practices
  • Be the first point of contact to field inquiries from People Experience Team
  • Utilize strong judgment and instincts to determine when issues need to be escalated to avoid potential litigation
  • Assess and advise Legal department leadership on potential employment-related risks, and think creatively about mitigation strategies

Requirements:
Education/Experience and Other Requirements
  • License to practice in Florida or approved as Authorized House Counsel in Florida
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience as a practicing lawyer, with an emphasis on employment and labor law issues
  • Juris Doctor from an institution accredited with the American Bar Association
  • Must maintain clean background/drug screenings/driving record

Expertise Needed
  • Knowledge of behavioral health issues a plus
  • Spanish fluency preferred
  • Large law firm experience preferred.
  • Ability to work as a member of a management team
  • Knowledge of state and federal statutes regarding healthcare compliance, insurance regulations, and patient confidentiality laws
  • Knowledge of state guidelines and accreditation agency standards
  • Must be client-service-oriented and highly responsive
